Summer Travel (4)

The Susquehanna River Mick and I love this spot where the Priesthood was restored.

We got to the grove early so that we could have some quiet time to ourselves. It was so peaceful and beautiful there. We are so thankful for the Prophet Joseph Smith and the prayer he offered in this grove that brought about the Restoration of the Gospel. The Sacred Grove

The Hill Cummoprah Pagaent.
We had a great time meeting many of the cast members and trying to guess what part they were playing.
Mick overlooking the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvannia.

This famous canyon was about 30 minutes from Mansfield, Pennsylvannia were we stayed for the week with EFY. It was a beautiful hilly area. We had a great week with the youth at EFY. It was especially great having Carly and Kaylie with us.

We finished our session Saturday morning and started driving home.
We drove for 2 long days, but it went amazingly fast.
We were grateful for the chance to see parts of this great country and to feel of the spirit in the Sacred Church sites.

Summer Travel (3)

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It is really amazing to see this area where the great battle of Gettysburg occurred. We are thankful for all of those who lost their lives for the cause of freedom.

Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.
We enjoyed touring these sites and hearing the famous Abraham Lincoln Speech presented by our tour guide.

Of course we couldn't go to "Philly" without seeing the places "Rocky" ran. Mick re-enacted Rocky for us as he ran to the top of the stairs at the art museum. We could hear the music in our minds as he victoriously reached the top.

A view of "Philly" from the top of the stairs.

Mick got a "Rocky" shirt at one of the shops in town. Several people stopped him to ask where he got the cool shirt!

Summer Travel (2)

On to Amish Country. This was a beautiful area and we loved seeing the buggy's and the fields of hay. We had a wonderful lunch at Mrs. Yoder's Kitchen. Probably our best meal of the whole trip!

This basket is actually an office building for Longaberger's Basket Company.

While Mick was speaking at EFY in Granville, Ohio. We toured the Longaberger's factory and watched them make the baskets. It was fun to watch and see all the different types of baskets that they make.

Summer of Travel

We traveled across the country this summer. Mick spoke at an EFY session in Ohio and directed a session in Pennsylvania. As we traveled we stopped along the way to see many Church and American Historical sites. We traveled over 5,000 miles and saw much of this great country that we live in. The EFY Sessions were great and Carly and Kaylie had a good time at their session in Pennsylvania.

Our first stop was Nauvoo. We got there in time to enjoy the great food at the Nauvoo Hotel. We then saw the Nauvoo Pagaent....it was great! We got up early the next morning to go to the Temple.
We had a wonderful experience there.

We drove to Springfield, Illinois to the Land of Lincoln. The Smith's meet the Lincoln's!
The Presidential Museum is Awesome. We would highly recommend it!
The Kirtland Temple in Kirtland, Ohio. We attended the Sacrament Meeting Sunday morning. It was exciting to be there as we witnessed the growth of a new ward in the Kirtland Area. The Bishop had been called the week prior and the Sunday we were there they were sustaining all the leadership of the ward.

Monday morning in Canton, Ohio we made a stop at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Mick and Carly loved this! Mick was surprised that I knew a few names and facts about football. Our favorite part was the film about the journey to the Super Bowl. It was like an Imax Theatre, we were up close and personal. It felt as though we were on the field with the players.
We could almost feel the sweat from the players on us.

The Growing Smith Family

This is our most updated picture.
We were in Idaho the first weekend
in September for Rachel's Blessing
(Jennifer & Jared's baby)

We had a great time cheering on the
Huskers and the Cougars, camping in
the backyard, and just spending time
together.

Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

This was our first day in Mexico.

We spent a week in this beautiful relaxing location with the whole Smith Family--56 of us!! Thank you to Grandpa & Grandma Smith for treating us to such a wonderful vacation. We also greatly appreciated Grandpa & Grandma Pratt & Nuttall who took care of the grandbabies while we all played in a Tropical Paradise.

We are wearing our matching t-shirts that Tani designed--they are great!!
